"Your work has a quality that would make Andy Warhol jealous. I gaze in awe at them all." - (my personal art critic and cheering section, you know who you are)
Hello guys and dolls! My name is Meghan, I guess you could call me a bit of a Jack of all trades. Maybe even a philosopher of sorts? I also happen to be a pretty decent cook. I am based in beautiful Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Proudly born and raised in Ontario, I decided to embark on a journey to the West Coast for my training at Blanche Macdonald where I received my Makeup Artistry Diploma (September 09), and ultimately fell in love with body art and the medium of my dreams. Both provinces are wondrous. I am sometimes a happy camper to just take in the scenery, ride the bus aimlessly in this city while listening to tunes! Artistically inclined since kid-hood, growing up I discovered my talent for drawing with my main focus being portraiture and realism. Portraits are one of my hallmarks, I believe the soul is in the face. I can easily spot kind eyes, as well as look at a 90-year-old and notice the child inside them. I don't have an art degree and I don't do chemicals...but I know who I am and I just paint what the little voices tell me to. That's the beauty part. I'm well educated by my observations. I can also thank my friends' influence and my family for knowing a lot of stuff! Dexterity is my middle name. So is Sponge. Need I say more?
Just about anything can open the floodgates of ideas and I am inspired by it all, including lots of other artist's work! My natural style gravitates toward bold and edgy but I am pretty diverse with my work and take pride in the fact. I am greatly influenced by everything my senses can detect... but gothic imagery, fantasy, film, anatomy, high fashion and music are primary in my colour wheel. There are limitless resources, that's why I never leave home without a camera and notebook. I would recommend it to anyone. Sometimes the ideas formulate from my past experiences and daily life, sometimes they appear out of thin air. It never stops. I Aggressively Rock the UV paint. Please keep in mind I work just as well with regular paint too. Most of what I know is self-taught as this comes very naturally to me. As a one-woman show I really like to do my own thing, including self study. Self study, determination, introspection and discipline helped me to tap into the depths of my gift. I've been on an intense artistic exploration over the past few years, rendering me completely fixated on my airbrush. What if I can't hold a brush? Tie it into my hand. My work is primarily freehanded. You will find my personality calm and sedate with splashes of passion and intensity! I've been told I have a distinctive twinkling in my eye. My art is not satisfactory to me until I've done my best. A forceful sense of purpose courses through my veins and it's propelling me forward. Can't help it...it's just how I'm wired.
Meeting new people and connecting with other like-minded artistes is one of my favourite things. My resume includes experience painting people, canvas, pools, and hopefully some nice vehicles in the nearer future. I am looking to paint a few bodies for events, parties, and combine forces with other talent (the greatest bodypaints etc. are a collaborative effort). Please pitch any concepts my way, I am confident we could make a memorable bodypaint out of anything that you or I can dream up. The sky's the limit. Your comfort and satisfaction are my priority. Rest assured, I do exhibit professionalism, punctuality and enthusiasm. I do hope my work reflects that. Feel free to soak in my portfolio, ask me any questions you may have and contact me about availability, rates, or if you are interested in my fine art and the like. I have raw ability that wants to speak so lets get our show on the road! No flakies please, just serious people.
A big public expression of thanks and gratitude to everyone I've had the privilege to work with so far - thank you so much for teaming up with me and for your contribution in making my portfolio outstanding. I feel very fortunate having bumped heads with all of you. Photographers, models, artsy folks have all been swell. I don't forget anybody's helping hand and am grateful.
My work is complex and so is my mind. These are my honest thoughts, feelings and discoveries. I'm not expressing anyone but myself, I've been gifted with the ability to empathize very vividly. This is what I was chosen to do, fair and square. I am a big fan of Integrity and merging symbols to convey a message. I'm not overly competitive, so if you see something you like please make yourself known as this is taking me a lot of Courage! I like to impress people on an emotional level, that's highly gratifying for me. If you laugh, you cry, you smile, tell me! When it comes to traditional paintings, the larger the better. Creating art is a very powerful outlet for me, I am delighted to share it with you and hope you find it stimulating as much as I find it therapeutic.
